“In 1947 a book was published that is still very important, and also very beautiful, that everyone should have read or read, sooner or later. The book is called “If this is a man” and it was written by Primo Levi, a chemist from Turin who had just returned from the extermination camp of Auschwitz. In 1947 I was born and it was 75 years before, during a walk in a beech wood, I began to think of a tree as a kind of brother. Not just a living thing, just a brother. We, if you think about it, we breathe, we eat, we warm up and we protect ourselves from the weather thanks to the trees, and yet we treat them so badly. Trees don’t speak, or at least we don’t hear them and we don’t understand what they say, so this book is speechless. The words, if you want, you can put them yourself.”
