“The communication of our days does not give time and space to interpretations. For this reason I create synthetic landscapes reduced to simple forms of color, ie as described to a blind person. It is thus established, putting them on the same level, a kind of equality between those who have a sense and those who do not. I also try to provoke in the observer a sense of bewilderment, using the Italian language written but in Braille, incomprehensible to most sighted people, but paradoxically of great visual impact. Braille becomes a cryptic decoration of great visual impact, regardless of its decipherability”

Artist:
Alessandro D’Aquila
Originally from Abruzzo and currently living in Milan, D’Aquila uses the Braille language as the protagonist of his artistic research. The choice to use a language not thought to be seen, but the powerful graphic properties, comes from the desire to bring to light themes often no longer object of attention and the need to bring it back through imagination and intuition, going beyond words and finding answers inside what may seem like a limit.
His visual art, made of Synthesis and Braille, wants to invite the public to look beyond the alphabet, beyond the details and beyond all the visual barriers from which we are daily hampered, to rediscover all that only the eyes of patience
and of the mind they know how to look and then make (re)exist, giving back to reality the attention it deserves. Few lines and some details allow to translate complexity into simplicity, without losing even a facet.
